Inter-Regional Bronze for Worcester Crocodiles Jess

Worcester Crocodiles player Jess Day was selected to play for the West Midlands U16 girls team in the recent Inter-Regional competition held at Liverpool Aquatics Centre, 25th & 26th June.

Taking on a full tournament format the regions were split into 2 groups. Each region played the others in their group with play offs depending on where they ended up in the table.

West Midlands were placed in group A with Ireland, North East Steelers, East Angels and South East Anderida. They drew their first match against North East (9-9), Lost to Ireland (7-3), beat South East (13-7) and East Angels (3-7). With 2 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw West Midland’s ended up in second place, in Group A, based on goal difference. Their first play off would be against the winners of Group B – North West Thunder.

A very close semi-final (15-10) resulted in a loss against North West Thunder, who eventually won the tournament. West Midland’s would face South West Sharks in the Bronze medal match.

In this match the girls played strongly and ended up winning by a margin of 16-19. This will mean the U16’s team will be in Division One for the U18’s competition in two years time.

Congratulations Jess and team, we await to hear of further success as the regional girls teams go from strength to strength.
